The Monarch is currently closed until further notice.
Comfy leather chairs and sofas await the visitor while contemporary décor ensures a light and airy environment.
The pub is named not in honour of a king or queen but a battleship named HMS Monarch. There have been three vessels bearing the name and the last was one of four Orion-class super Dreadnoughts built in 1909, armed with ten 13.5 inch guns and a crew of 1,100.
Good quality pub food is readily available while large screen TVs and live bands provide plenty of entertainment with a pool table close to hand. Quiz nights and karaoke are becoming popular here too. A small courtyard garden provides a pleasant space for warmer days.
