  • Pub of the week: The Zetland Arms, Kingsdown

    The Zetland Arms in Kingsdown, near Deal, is a fantastic little pub situated right on the beach.  Following a refurbishment last year funded by Shepherd Neame, the pub looks smart and clean, while retaining its homely, traditional feel.  There are some lovely nautical touches to the décor, using nets, rope, wood and copper to reflect the seafaring spirit of this little gem of a pub.

  • Pop Down the Pub to Say Your Prayers

    A Kent church has come up with a quirky new venue for worship – the village pub. Martin Jones, vicar at St Martin’s in Aldington, near Ashford, is conducting a weekly service at historic Shepherd Neame pub the Walnut Tree.It takes place in the bar from 9am every Wednesday, and the congregation is growing every week.

    Don’t miss the chance to taste this year’s batch of Shepherd Neame’s Green Hop Beer, Tallyman’s Special. The 4.5% ABV beer is brewed by the Faversham-based brewery every year for the Kent Green Hop Beer Fortnight at the end of September.Instead of the usual dried hops, the brew uses fresh green hops and showcases the full array of esters and aromas usually lost in the drying process.
