Head development chef Simon Howlett hosted the skills development day at Kent food supplier Brakes, in Ashford, which introduced a new specification guide to improve meat quality and a Ready, Steady, Cook-style competition.

Swiss-style lager Hurlimann has rewarded an online competition winner with a spin around Brands Hatch racing circuit. Neil Scott of Ditton, near Maidstone got to try life in the fast lane when he drove a F1-style single-seater around the world famous track for a day he will never forget.

A beer a day keeps the doctor away

Shepherd Neame has welcomed new research that shows a pint of beer a day is good for your health. Spanish researchers found that those who regularly drank moderate amounts of beer were less likely to suffer from diabetes and high blood pressure and had a lower body fat content.
