    A popular Shepherd Neame pub has been given a new lease of life thanks to a £25,000 refurbishment. The makeover has transformed the Royal Mail at Lydd, which licensee Sue Kent, who runs the pub with partner Andy Cox, has described as the “best pub I’ve ever been in – and I work here!”

    Today is a day of mixed emotions here at Shepherd Neame. On a positive note our Royal Wedding Ale is now on sale packed full of Fuggle hops and a proper tribute to the prospective happy couple. The beer is 4.7% abv amber colored bitter. We used Fuggles at every stage of the process for both bittering and aroma resulting in a full bodied beer with a subtle earthy character.

  • Horse Guards celebrate with Shepherd Neame

    Shepherd Neame, Britain’s oldest brewer, has made a special delivery of Royal Wedding Ale to the Horse Guards at Whitehall to celebrate the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The cask of beer will be enjoyed by the 1st Battalion Irish Guards after completing their royal wedding duties on April 29, and who have recently returned from six months in Afghanistan.

    Kingfisher lager has been granted an International High Quality Trophy 2011 by Monde Selection, the premier international food and drink awards, for three consecutive years of brewing achievement. Kingfisher lager’s 50-litre kegs have secured Gold Awards and Grand Gold Awards for the past three years, while the 330ml bottled format has also won the approval of judges.
