• The Cricketers pass fund raising boundary

    Two hospices have been bowled over by a Shepherd Neame pub which helped raise more than £38,000 for them with its annual Pedal4Charity event.Cycling, quizzing and dancing are just three of the events which saw The Cricketersin Horsell, Surrey, top last year’s tally by an impressive £5,000 for the Woking and Sam Beare Hospices.

    Comedian, Adrian Edmondsen visited the Faversham Brewery recently to film for his latest series, Ade in Britain. Shown around by Senior Brewer, Stewart Tricker, Ade visited the barley fields, a hop garden and helped mash in a brew Spitfire before heading to the sample room!

    On Friday I was at the Festival of British Beer and Cheese at the Brewers Hall in the City of London. The event had been organised by the Beer Academy and was a wonderful opportunity to experience beers old and new and to try to match them to suitable cheeses.

  • Grain to Glass

    On Tuesday I and a number of brewing colleagues from around the country met up with farmers, hop growers, maltsters and members of the NFU as well as members of parliament at the launch of the Grain to Glass report. This is a joint industry initiative to raise awareness of the importance of the brewing industry to the rural economy and to call for government support going forwards.

  • Chefs' Lamb day is a cut above

    Shepherd Neame chefs perfected their lamb preparation skills with a development day at Ashford food supplier Brakes. The brewery’s head development chef Simon Howlett oversaw the session, attended by nine Shepherd Neame pub chefs and supported by local butchers JC Rooks & Sons and EBLEX, the organisation which supports the British beef and lamb industry.
