Financial performance: Turnover up 2.8% to £138.7m (2013: £134.9m) Operating profit before exceptionals up 5.5% at £13.4m (2013: £12.7m) and EBITDA (1) up 4.3% to a record level of £20.5m (2013: £19.6m) Statutory profit before tax is up 8.7% to £7.7m (2013: £7.1m)

  • Royal Seal of Approval for Shepherd Neame

    Britain’s oldest brewer Shepherd Neame has been granted extended use of the Royal Warrant by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. Royal Warrants are granted to companies who have regularly supplied goods or services for a minimum of five consecutive years to The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh or The Prince of Wales.

  • Featured Recipe: Whitstable Fish Pie

    This is the ultimate fish pie, topped with pea mash it is good on its own, or for the height of luxury serve with some steamed mussels with garlic or some simple wilted greens. The sauce is made with Whitstable Bay Blonde lager, which also makes a great drinking accompaniment. The fish is not cooked through in advance which leaves it succulent and moist in the finished pie.
