A Cheese and Wine night at the Walnut Tree pub in Aldington raised £500 for charity.

More than 70 people attended the event on Monday, June 23, organised by Karen Barrett, licensee at the historic Shepherd Neame pub.

A talk was given by wine expert Sue Brooker, who works for Todd’s The Wine Company, Shepherd Neame’s vintners which sources stock from independent family wineries from around the world.

Guests were invited to sample a selection of wines and cheeses, before taking part in a light-hearted wine quiz, with prizes for the winners. A raffle was also held.

Karen said: “I normally organise two cheese and wine evenings a year for a charity, and we were over the moon with the turnout for this event. The money will be shared between St Martin’s Church and St Rumwold’s Church.”
