Shepherd Neame’s Visitor Centre has received a silver award in the Small Visitor Attraction Category of the Beautiful South Excellence Awards 2013-2014.

The award is the latest in a string of accolades for the attraction which received gold accreditation from the Green Tourism Business Scheme earlier this year and picked up silver at last year’s Beautiful South Awards. The results were announced in front of an audience of almost 300 tourism industry professionals at the Felbridge Hotel in West Sussex last night (Wednesday 27th November).

The award comes at the start of a busy time for the Visitor Centre team with Yuletide brewery tours running most days in December and many private events and celebrations booked in the next few weeks.  In addition, the centre’s function venue, The Old Brewery Store, is set to host a concert on Saturday 7th December from The Crossfire – one of the County’s leading cover bands – for which limited tickets are still available.

Details of next year’s programme have just been finalised and bookings are now open for evening events, such as the superb six-course Seasonal Beer Dinner – these are freshly prepared with local ingredients and there’s a beer to match each course.  Tickets for these evenings, other events and brewery tours are available as gift certificates and are ideal Christmas presents. Full details of the Visitor Centre can be found here.

Visitor Centre manager Graham Hukins said, “We are delighted with this award – it is a real accolade for the fantastic team here at the Visitor Centre.”

Tourism South East chairman, Ken Robinson, said: “It is great to see such excellence rewarded. The Beautiful South Awards represent the culmination of hard work and dedication by the best tourism professionals, in our best tourism businesses.”
