Located in the centre of historic Old Town in Hastings, Ye Olde Pumphouse last week hosted Spitfire brand ambassadors Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller for a 1940s themed party. Managers Jo Dixon and Scott Trotter welcomed the BAFTA-winning comedy duo as a result of winning our latest Operation Landlord competition – ‘Win Armstrong and Miller in Your Pub”.

The side-splitting pair were on top form as they got into character as the pilots and hosted the 1940s themed night that involved a Q&A session, 1940s themed quiz, a wartime sing along with Alexander at the piano and a green screen picture opportunity, and a buffet too - Head over to https://www.facebook.com/spitfireale to see the pictures!

The night couldn’t have felt more authentic in the striking grade 2 listed building. The family run pub oozes character with its open fireplaces, low ceilings, exposed wooden beams and flagstones. This abundance of warmth and character make the pub perfect for events and everyday visits alike, so if you’re looking for a friendly pub with heaps of charm and personality you won’t find better!

The vast menu of food offered at the Pumphouse is sure to suit everyone, from light bites to hearty main meals containing only locally sourced meat. Many of the meals are home made on the premises by the pubs team of skilled chefs – children’s meals and vegetarian options are also available and there’s always a choice of specials and deals to be had with traditional roasts served on Sundays.

The pub boasts a private shaded courtyard outside and a pool table that’s free for customers to use on Monday and Tuesday. Accompanied children are welcome in all areas of the pub up until 6.30 pm and dogs are allowed in the main bar area.

This traditional pub has it all, a historic feel with a friendly atmosphere, award winning beers, games tables and they even cater for private functions.
