Pub of the Week: Manor Farm Barn, Southfleet

Posted: 29 July 2014

Should you happen to be passing this summer, you will soon be able to see quite a lot more of the staff at the Manor Farm Barn than usual.  After staff here with hit with the news that they had lost a colleague to pancreatic cancer, the close-knit team decided to do something positive in their friend’s memory.

Paula Beagley, 50, had worked at the pub since it opened in 2002, and will be sadly missed by the team and the pub’s regulars.  Following the news that she had lost her battle with cancer, the bar staff got together to create a semi-nude comedy calendar, to raise money for the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK.  The calendar consists of a selection of clever and cheeky pictures, and will be available from the beginning of August.  The team are hoping to raise £3000.

However, picking up your copy is not the only reason to stop by this lovely pub.  Manor Farm Barn is a beautifully restored 18th century barn, with some stunning features, including a thatched roof, exposed oak beams, and dramatic high ceiling.  They serve a good variety of classic pub meals, as well as seasonal dishes, and mouth-watering burgers, with a special menu for younger visitors.

The pub boasts a large patio garden with seating for over 100 people, and barbecues are held regularly throughout the summer, as well as live music the first Friday of every month.   There is plenty of parking, and good disabled access. The pub can be found near the village of Southfleet, on the B266.  Their proximity to Bluewater make it a tempting addition to a shopping trip, with the Bluewater bus stop just 100 yards from the pub.

The pub are currently busy preparing for their Charity Summer Ball in aid of Ellenor Lions Hospice on 23rd August from 7pm.  Tickets cost just £10 per person including food, and with live music from the popular pub circuit band Beer Pressure, it promises to be an evening full of fun, to keep you dancing and singing along until late!  Follow the pub on Facebook for more on this and other upcoming events.
