Pub of the Week: The Kings Head, Wye

Blog category: Pub of the Week

This week’s featured pub is the incredible Kings Head, that first opened its doors in 1870, situated in the historic village of Wye.

Hard working licensees Mark & Scott are what keep the Kings Head ticking, self-described as “a couple of down to earth boys from the north”. The pair travelled down south to pursue careers in music and fashion, they found themselves in Wye and started running the Kings Head, and they haven’t looked back since!

Mark and Scott are passionate about their experiences when they go out to eat, drink, and stay, and wanted to bring some of their unique ideas and enthusiasm to the characterful pub and historic village.

The pair are all about quality: quality of food, quality of service, and quality of environment. Constantly striving for perfection, but all the while managing to maintain the relaxed and friendly atmosphere the pub is known for.

The pub is passionate about the food it serves, offering only the finest food, made with quality, fresh ingredients from local suppliers, and delivered with impeccable service. A recent review by Kent News praised the eatery for its ability to “tell the narrative” of the pubs history through its food.

The Kings Head’s menu is inspired by some of the best dishes from around the British Isles, some old, some new, but all tasty.

Every Thursday night is game night, with the specials board showcasing only the best locally sourced game, and on Friday night the specials board has a fresh fish theme.

Other meals available include Honey Glazed lamb sweet cheeks, Pheasant Breast and the always popular Venison Burger. You can find the pubs menus here.

As well as being a popular place to eat, the Kings Head is also a great place to stay. Each of the pubs four guest rooms is simply, but tastefully decorated, making use of light wood panelling, shaker peg rails, and stripped wooden floors, making sure the rooms absolutely ooze with character.

The use of reclaimed and antique furniture mixed with bright accents and modern accessories gives each room a unique, fresh and uncluttered feel, while retaining their rustic charm, you can see pictures in the pubs gallery here.

All four rooms are en-suite, and feature a bath with shower above, or in the case of our deluxe double room, a free standing roll top bath. Every room includes a TV, free Wi Fi for guests, Tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, bathrobes and breakfast served in the restaurant in the morning.
