The Cock Inn, Boughton Monchelsea,
is a picture postcard Elizabethan Inn.

With oak beams, inglenooks, and wonky
floors this is your quintessential English pub.

The Cock Inn specialises in local produce cooked simply but with a twist on the traditional. They do a legendary Sunday roast and also have a large fresh fish menu where you can expect to find treats such as whole crab, sea bass, sardines, Colchester black river oysters, smoked salmon and mussels.

Alongside the main menu there is a substantial specials board which changes daily and the menu caters for vegetarian and gluten free diets.

The pub is currently taking bookings for Christmas and is offering a 3 course Christmas Party menu at a very reasonable £19.95.

Landlord Dave is fanatical about real ales and has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for almost 30 years. The pub offers at least one seasonal or speciality ale alongside its standard draught ales, as well as ales from the Pilot Brewery and guest ales when available.

Landlady Jo says: “We are a great destination pub with a big character and slightly irreverent attitude to life. We are close to the Greensand Way and numerous other footpaths and are crazy about dogs and allow dogs in the pub on a lead. Come along and give us a try. You will be most welcome!”

Reasons to visit in October
- During October and November you can pick up a very tasty deal: two ribeye steaks and a bottle of House wine for £35.00. This offer is available every day, lunchtimes and evenings.

- The pub is hosting a Jazz evening on 21st October 4.30pm til 7.30pm. No ticket required – just turn up and enjoy the music with some fine food and drink.
