Kent County RFU’s Senior XV team has made it to the final of this year’s Bill Beaumont Plate Final at Twickenham.
The team, sponsored by Faversham-based brewery Shepherd Neame, won a 28-9 victory against Medway RFC on Saturday – and promotion to the top tier of county rugby.
They will now be battling Durham for the cup, named in honour of the former England and British and Irish Lions captain, at Twickenham this Sunday, June 1.
Manager Taff Gwilliam said: “With the Kent Under 20s reaching the National Cup semi-final and the County Under 18s going unbeaten in their campaign Kent rugby is very much on the up.
“The County are now seeing the fruits of their development structure put in place on the back of the continued financial support of Shepherd Neame.
“Shepherd Neame are not just sponsors but, in keeping with their company ethos, are very much part of the Kent rugby family.
“The team will not only be wearing the ‘Spitfire’ brand on their shirts Sunday, but having a well-earned drink of the ale to celebrate their final appearance after the match.”
