“What’s Cask Ale Week?” you may be asking. Very simply, it’s a chance to celebrate our iconic national drink – real ale.

There are special beers and events the length and breadth of the country – including at our brewery and in our pubs– that will give people a chance to learn more about cask ale.

In a series of blogs this week we’ll be getting back to basics on beer to support this year’s theme of ‘Introduce a Friend’. Cask beer is a wonderful, live drink – made from wholly natural, and in our case naturally sourced, ingredients.

There’s been an explosion in the number of brewers and beers available in the UK in the past five years and we’re no exception. We’ve nearly doubled the number of seasonal cask ales we brew in the past 18 months, including cask versions of our Classic Collection beers. We’ve also introduced a permanent brew in the form of Whitstable Bay Pale Ale – which has proved a real hit since its launch at the beginning of July.

Brewers in Kent have something extra special during cask ale week - Kent Green Hop Beer. There’ll be more on this later in the week, but if you can’t wait until then, head over to their website.
