Customers were queuing at the door of Hadlow pub The Harrow, after it re-opened following a brief closure for an exterior refurbishment and garden makeover by new licensees and hospitality professionals, Simon Gray and Adam Jaroszek.
The evening of Thursday 6 June saw the pub’s official re-launch welcoming 350 local people through the doors to experience the lovely new-look pub garden and get a flavour of the new menu.
Simon, a former catering college lecturer who works front-of-house, and chef, Adam, who heads-up the kitchen, have pooled their hotel and restaurant catering experience to take on the pub and give it a strong food focus.
“Adam and I have worked together in catering for many years and really seized the opportunity to take on this fantastic pub,” says Simon.
“We gathered together an amazing team of friends and family and spent several days refurbishing the lovely garden and pub exterior. We then took a Google map and posted a launch invitation through literally every door in the village and the response has been overwhelming.  We’d like to thank the local community for their terrific support.”
The new menu features high quality, mid-price gastro-pub dishes with old favourites such as ‘fish and chips with minted mushy peas’, as well as classic dishes with a twist such as ‘Harrow-smoked salmon with fresh pea shoots and caper berry sauce’ or ‘Ham hock ballotine’.  Delicious home-baked, flavoured breads and seasonal local ingredients will also be the order of the day.
The dynamic duo have already received their first wedding booking for later this year and there are plans for a loyalty card scheme, gift vouchers and music events.
Shepherd Neame property and tenanted trade director George Barnes adds, “The Harrow is an impressive, well-appointed pub with an outstanding garden.  It is great to see that Simon and Adam’s hard-work and determination and imaginative food offer have received such a great response from the local community.”
Situated on the A26 Maidstone to Tonbridge main road, The Harrow has a large car park.
