The BBPA has published the full results of a new YouGov poll analysing how Britons are coping with the cost of living, which reveals that almost a fifth of workers are putting off going out to the pub until payday, because we can’t afford it. The poll, which featured in today’s Sun newspaper, sparked an editorial calling for a cut in beer duty in next week’s Budget.

Faversham and Mid Kent MP Hugh Robertson received a special award today, in recognition of his work to help secure last year’s historic cut in beer duty in the Budget.
Jonathan Neame, chief executive of Faversham-based brewery Shepherd Neame, presented Mr Robertson with the new ‘Beer Champion’ award.

More than 900,000 UK jobs depend on Britain’s brewing and pub trade. That is the finding of a new study by Oxford Economics for the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA), which looked at the industry’s impact on employment, wages, and the economy at a local level.
