Pubs hold the key for growth

Shepherd Neame chief executive, Jonathan Neame, has called for the Chancellor, George Osbourne, to support investment and growth in the pub market. In a letter to the editor, published in today’s Daily Telegraph, he calls for “escalator” taxes to be reviewed annually. Historic Double from Britain's Oldest Brewer

Brewers at Shepherd Neame have deciphered coded 19th century brewers’ logs to create two new beers, a Double Stout and an India Pale Ale. The recipes were originally written in a cipher to avoid their being copied and taken to rival breweries.
