• Spring is in the Air

    It is now the beginning of March, Christmas and the New Year break are distant memories and the shops are full of Easter eggs and hot cross buns. There are clear signs that spring is near, snow drops are blooming, daffodils aren’t far behind (although the mild December confused some enough to bloom back then), we have had the first drought warnings of the year with the threat of a hose pipe ban and Early Bird is now brewed and available in our pubs.

  • Board Changes

    As previously announced on 28 October 2011, Shepherd Neame Limited advises that Mark Rider (35) has today been appointed to the Board as Finance & IT Director. He replaces Ken Littlefair who steps down from the Board on the same date and retires from the Company at the end of March 2012.Ken Littlefair joined Shepherd Neame in 2000 when he was appointed to the Board.

  • Greewich pub's £50,000 refurbishment includes fish and chip shop

    The Spanish Galleon Tavern, Greenwich, has been given a £50,000 refurbishment, with two of its bars redecorated with comfortable new furniture and stylish fittings and the third transformed into a fish and chip shop serving customers and passers-by.

  • Beer or Wine?

    Last night I was challenged to attend a blind vertical wine tasting where we sampled 5 vintages of Chateau d’Angludet ranging from a 1997 vintage to a young 2005 that is still maturing, to see how the wine developed with time or which year gave the best flavours.
